Raising Dough

Giving back to our awesome community is really important to Rob and I and during our slow season, we had two really awesome projects that benefitted two really amazing charities.

In February, we worked with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to create a "Children's Presence" art piece for their annual gala. We worked with 13 local children who live with Type 1 Diabetes . . . it was an amazing project. Each of the children had their hands painted with symbols that represent their life with Type 1 Diabetes. Then I, as the lucky photographer, got to photograph the hands of each child and create a fabulous canvas art piece which was auctioned off at their event. I have learned so much from working with these brave little (and big) kids. If you don't know much about Juvenile Diabetes, check out the JDRF website http://www.jdrf.org/ and help find a cure!

Here's a mini version of the canvas we created:

Then in March we had our first ever "Paw Prints" event. We photographed lots of dogs and one scared cat to raise money for the Nebraska Humane Society. I'll admit it was way more challenging than I thought it would be, but we got some really cute images and raised $750 for the Humane Society. Here's a taste!
